Weed Whacking is an art to say the least. Having an experience weed whacker on a landscaping crew can make the property pop! As a weed whacker you are forced into the nitty-gritty of a job. Not only is it a critical job for customer satisfaction, but it’s awarded the most painful jobs as well. If you do not have the correct gear take a long breath because you could be in for a long day. Over my countless hours of pain through weed whacking experience, I finally feel like it’s time to bold what you should wear when you weed whack.

Should I wear glasses when I’m weed whacking? ABSOLUTELY. When you begin to weed whack you’ll begin to question “what are the chances I get hit in my eye!?”, but it only has to happen once.  With the line trimmer cutting line rotating at such fast velocity hitting a rock with a freak ricochet can result in ‘your worst day ever’. Many stories result in partial blindness so make sure to take all the precautions you can to keep your vision.

Make sure you wear long pants and long sleeves! I wish someone told me this the first time I weed whacked. When you are trying to bring weeds down to dirt level or put a finishing edge on a flower bed, there are constant pebbles pelleting your skin. At first you can take on the initial beating, but after 8 hours you’ll become fatigued. I promise you when you have this clothing on you can’t feel a thing!

So there it is, my insider tips on what you should wear when you weed whack. I am sure I will save a few of you from ‘your worst day ever’. Would love to hear if you have any additional gear that have worked for you in the past.
